My journey in science began with a bachelor’s degree in veterinary medicine and surgery from Alexandria University, Egypt. I pursued my passion further by completing a PhD in Virology at the Royal Veterinary College, the project was in collaboration with APHA, and investigated BVDV host range. My career path includes impactful roles at the Pirbright Institute, where I progressed from postdoctoral research scientist to senior scientist. I then returned to APHA in December 2022 to lead efforts against BVDV.
Meet the APHA scientist tackling a hidden cattle virus - Dr. Amin Asfor’s mission to stop Bovine Viral Diarrhoea could change farming, food safety, and global animal health.
