Bhudipa Choudhury is the interim Lead Scientist for the Animal and Zoonotic Virus Disease (AZVD) portfolio at the Animal and Plant Health Agency.
She gained her PhD in Virology at the University of Birmingham Medical School, studying the emergence of drug resistance and compartmentalisation of HIV-1. Bhudipa initially joined APHA as the OFFLU Scientist within the Avian Virology workgroup, before moving to and subsequently becoming head of the Mammalian Virology workgroup.
Within the diverse AZVD portfolio, Bhudipa’s personal interests are Hepatitis E virus and retroviruses, she’s the head of the WOAH Reference Laboratory for Enzootic Bovine Leukosis. Bhudipa is also the SRO for the strategically significant Genomics of Animal and Plant Disease Consortium II project.
