Safeguarding with science: Avian influenza

Posted by: and , Posted on: - Categories: Viral diseases

In the first of a series of videos highlighting how we safeguard with science, Prof Ian Brown, APHA's Head of Virology, talks about avian influenza (bird flu) and the work we do in our international reference laboratory at Weybridge.

At APHA science plays a vital role in how we safeguard animal and plant health. Whether it’s identifying and controlling outbreaks of notifiable disease; facilitating international trade; or our research in areas such as avian influenza and bovine TB, all our work is underpinned by scientific principles and rigour.

For more information about avian influenza, including how to spot it, what to do if you suspect it, measures to prevent it, and the latest situation in GB, see GOV.UK.
